Turkish textile exports to the EU rank second

According to Eurostat, the official statistical agency of the European Union, Turkey ranks second among the countries that export textiles and clothing to EU countries.   Compared with 2006, EU countries’ imports of textiles and clothing from third countries increased by 4.3% in 2007, reaching 78.6 billion euros.   In 2007, EU countries’ imports of textiles and clothing from Turkey increased by 6.5% compared to 2006, reaching 12.6 billion Euros.   Turkey’s market share in the EU increased to 16.1% in 2007, up from 15.8% in 2006. Among the countries that export to the EU, Turkey ranks second, second only to China, and China’s market share in the EU is 34.6%.
