The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry says it is vital to complete textile export targets

Mr. Tanveer Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), emphasized the challenges currently facing Pakistan's industry, especially the textile industry. He said that Pakistan must complete the export target of 45 billion U.S. dollars per year in the next six years. In order to achieve this target, we have created export capacity. Completing this target will undoubtedly promote the development of Pakistan’s economy. Private enterprises must achieve this goal. effort.   He said that the purpose of zero-tariff access is to promote exports, especially cotton exports. The Ministry of Commerce must also conduct investigations and studies to find out which countries have not provided preferential treatment to Pakistan or have not reduced tariffs on Pakistani products. He also said that the Doha Round will improve market access and create huge opportunities that Pakistan can make better use of.   Mr. Sheikh went on to say that appropriate infrastructure must be provided to encourage and attract new investment. He said that FPCCI is working hard to promote research and development, to help upgrade FPCCIA products, and to keep in line with the standards and requirements of the international market.   He emphasized that Pakistan is facing the challenge of increasing productivity. He said that it should hold a single-country trade fair to promote Pakistan’s trade. Regarding the issue of export policy, he said: For the first time, we have taken five measures to promote rapid export growth:    1. Trade diplomacy to expand market access 2. Export market diversification 3. Strengthen the construction of infrastructure to promote trade 4. Silk development and 5. Modern infrastructure supply
