Recently, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) revised the US Flammable Fabric Act (FFA), and the new law will come into effect on September 22 this year. The United States passed the Flammable Fabrics Act as early as 1953, and revised it twice in 1954 and 1967. The burning performance of textiles entering the United States must meet the requirements of the decree, otherwise a fine of up to 1.25 million U.S. dollars will be imposed. The Flammable Fabrics Act includes 6 sub-regulations: 16CFR1610 for general textiles, 16CFR1615 and 16CFR1616 for children’s pajamas, 16CFR1630 and 16CFR 1631 requirements for carpets, and 16CFR1632 for mattresses. The revision has mainly done four aspects of work: one is to increase the definition of some confusing terms; the other is to introduce more advanced combustion testing equipment; the third is to provide for more scientific dry cleaning and cleaning before sample testing. The process, detailed test textile sample preparation, test volume, combustion experiment process and the content of the experiment report; fourth is the calculation of fabric burning time, the judgment of the bottom of the fabric ignition and combustion put forward more clear regulations. At present, countries around the world are gradually paying more attention to the combustion performance of textiles. The technical regulations of textiles in the United States place special emphasis on the flame-retardant performance of products. The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine also requires local entry-exit inspection and quarantine agencies to conduct inspections on the flame-retardant performance of exported clothing. Sampling and testing. my country's textile exports to the United States are huge. In 2007 alone, China exported 21.4 billion square meters of textiles to the United States, with a value of 32.3 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 19.4% year-on-year. The inspection and quarantine department recommends that relevant enterprises be familiar with the content of the new combustion law as early as possible, adjust the technical parameters of textiles exported to the United States in time, and do the corresponding product testing work to avoid impeding the export of textiles due to untimely technological updates.
