Philippines imports of textile gauze and related products decline

According to the Philippine National Bureau of Statistics report, from January to April 2008, the foreign trade volume was 36.32 billion U.S. dollars. From January to April 2008, the foreign merchandise trade volume reached 36.322 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 10.6% from the 32.828 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of 2007.   Total imports reached US$19.462 billion, an increase of 17.9% from the US$16.504 billion in the first four months of 2007. At the same time, total exports were 16.86 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 3.3% from the 16.325 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months of 2007. International merchandise trade shows that the Philippines’ trade deficit in the first four months of 2008 was US$2.601 billion.   The total merchandise trade in April 2008 increased by 8.4% to 9.18 billion U.S. dollars, up from 8.467 billion U.S. dollars in April 2007. The foreign exchange collection of export dollars reached 4.325 billion U.S. dollars, or an increase of 4.9% from last year's 4.124 billion U.S. dollars. Imported goods increased by 11.8%, reaching 4.855 billion U.S. dollars, up from 4.343 billion U.S. dollars in April 2007. The merchandise trade deficit in 2009 was US$531 million.  The proportion of industrial machinery and equipment ranked fifth, accounting for 4.2%. The import value was US$203.4 million, an increase of 35.6% from the previous year’s US$149.7 million. The top ten imported products in April 2008 were organic and inorganic chemical products at US$94.29 million; fertilizers at US$91.29 million; basic plastics and non-basic plastic forms at US$90.29 million; textile yarns, cloths, finished products and related products 78.22 million Dollar.   In April 2008, the import of raw materials and semi-finished products was US$1.841 billion, accounting for 37.9% of total imports, a decrease of 3.4% from the US$1.907 billion in the previous year. Compared with last month's 1.925 billion US dollars, imports of raw materials and semi-finished products decreased by 4.4%. The import of semi-processed raw materials was US$1.625 billion, accounting for 33.5%. Is the highest ratio.
