Pakistani textile group looks at Bangladesh

The Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Association recently pointed out that many well-reputed Pakistani textile export companies intend to set up knitted garment factories in Bangladesh. Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmed, chairman of the Faisalabad ready-to-wear city project plan, said that Pakistani investors are being attracted by Bangladesh’s low manufacturing costs, low inflation, low wages, recently completed infrastructure, and tax-free concessions in the United States, Canada and the European Union. Pakistan Textile Manufacturers Federation President Adil Mehmood further stated that Pakistan has many disadvantages, such as high production costs, lack of skilled workers, high loan interest rates, and lack of tax-free concessions in major markets, which are the main obstacles restricting the growth of Pakistan's textile industry.
