Indian exporters sold 200,000 bales of cotton last week
The cotton merchant said that Indian cotton demand is very strong, Pakistan cotton production is reduced, and Chinese buyers hope to purchase as much cotton as possible before their import quota ends in December. Therefore, Indian exporters have signed contracts for about 2 to 2.2 million bales of new cotton to be picked in October, each weighing 170 kilograms. One million packages have already been shipped. The official said that they hope to export more than 5 million bales in 2007-08.
